ANGELINA JOLIE NO REFUGEE PROBLEM IN U.S. Trump ‘Acting Out of Fear’

February 9, 2017

0202-angelina-trump-tmz

Angelina Jolie is weighing in on President Trump‘s immigration ban and accusing him of ignoring facts about how refugees get into the U.S.

Angelina says, “It is simply not true that our borders are overrun or that refugees are admitted to the United States without close scrutiny.” In an op-ed for the New York Times, she adds … refugees are subject to the “highest level of screening of any category of traveler to the United States.”

Of course, Angelina works with the UN’s High Commissioner for Refugees. She’s also adopted 3 children born outside the country. She says she understands security from terrorism is of the utmost importance, but thinks “our response must be measured and should be based on facts, not fear.”

She never mentions Trump by name, but says she’d want any president to work with people of all faiths around the world to make all nations more secure.]

BARACK AND MICHELLE See Ya, Sir Richard … OBAMAS OUT!

February 9, 2017

Barack and Michelle Obama might be ready to get back to reality, ’cause their Necker Island vacation is over … TMZ has learned.

Sources on the island tell us the Obamas took a helicopter from Necker Island to nearby Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport. Obama was seen chatting with BVI Premier Dr. Orlando Smith and his wife before jetting off — private, of course — to somewhere unknown.

Barack and Michelle have been hanging with Sir Richard Branson since last week … when they ditched Palm Springs for better weather in the Caribbean.

Unclear if they’re coming back home to the States … but could ya blame ’em if they didn’t?

GRAMMY SEATING CHART BEYONCE FRONT AND CENTER Bieber and Kanye No-Shows

February 9, 2017

0209-grammy-seating-rex-01

The pecking order has been set for Sunday’s Grammys, and Beyonce‘s got the best seat in the house, while Justin Bieber and Kanye have no seats at all.

No surprise … Beyonce and Jay Z are in the front row … for countless close-ups during the show at L.A.’s Staples Center. Adele is a few rows behind and to the side of Bey. Bruno Mars is next to Adele.

Lady Gaga is in an aisle seat directly in front of Adele.

As for who has to crane their neck to see over Beyonce’s hair … it’s Tim McGraw, Faith Hill and Solange.

It looks like Rihanna may be in the front row as well, although a little to the side of center.

As we first reported, Bieber and Kanye will be MIA … they don’t think the Grammys are relevant anymore.

No To Violence Against Women And Children – MoBay Protesters

February 9, 2017
Post Image

Published:Tuesday | February 7, 2017 | 12:00 AMOkoye Henry

Western Bureau:

Women clad in black yesterday took to the streets of Montego Bay to protest against the recent spate of violence against women and children, who are being killed in increasing numbers in the western city.

The protest was organised by the Central St James Women’s Movement. It saw women and a few men, who came out to support the action, displaying placards with messages such as ‘Real men don’t hurt women’ and ‘Say no to violence against women and children’.

“We want it to be known that we are not going to sit by and allow this violence to continue without saying anything about it,” said Donna Lynch, the president of the movement. “We want our message to be heard loud and clear.”

Government senator and former mayor of Montego Bay, Councillor Charles Sinclair, one of the men who supported the initiative, said he fully endorsed what the women were doing, as he, too, was angry with the general crime situation.

SHOWING SUPPORT

“Many women and children have been murdered viciously in Jamaica from the latter part of last year going into this year,” said Sinclair. “… These people are out here to show support to the grieving families as well as say to the rest of Jamaica that we must take stock of ourselves and bring a halt to this gruesome situation,” he said.

Last year, Sinclair was one of the persons lobbying for a state of emergency in St James during a peak period in the ongoing violence.

However, while the march basically got the thumbs up from many men, there were a few who took exception to the fact that it was primarily focused on violence against women and children.

“This should be a march against violence in general, there should be no segregation, because the stats will show that we have more men being killed than women and children,” said a male onlooker. “What I am seeing on the placards would seem to suggest that it is OK to target men, but spare the lives of women and children.”

Published:Wednesday | February 8, 2017 | 12:00 AM

As Jamaica celebrates Reggae Month, the recently opened Peter Tosh Museum will be hosting The Steppin’ Razor Experience, in honour of the reggae legend.

The event, scheduled to take place at the newly appointed Peter Tosh Square at the Pulse Centre on February 25, will feature live and recorded music.

A number of reggae heavyweights are set to perform, among them Andrew Tosh, Beenie Man, Dre Tosh and Garnett Silk Jr.

Guests will also be able to go on special tours in what is being dubbed as ‘A night at the Museum.’ Tours will be offered at discounted rates and Jamaicans and visitors alike will get another opportunity to access this already famous facility comfortably.

An official statement from the Tosh Museum said, ‘As we celebrate Reggae as well as Black History Month in February, this whole period presents a great opportunity for people to visit the museum to learn more, not only about Tosh’s significant contribution to Jamaica’s cultural history, but also his social justice advocacy, which is as salient today as it was in his time. His position on equal rights, apartheid and the legalisation of marijuana resonates around the world to this day. Some will say more today than ever before.’

The Peter Tosh Museum is a joint-venture collaboration between the Peter Tosh Estate, Pulse Investments Limited and Marlene Brown.
